This week is National Diabetes Week in Australia. This year is focusing on the emotional and mental health of those suffering from this disease.
People living with diabetes can make up to 180 EXTRA decisions each day. Between what they need to eat, medication, and exercise to stay well and healthy the decisions are never-ending.
You or someone close to you may be managing diabetes today and we would like to help spread awareness with you. The mental and emotional toll must be exhausting, not to mention the physical.
Some of the complications diabetics may have to manage every day include:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Eye health
- Teeth and gums complications
- Cardiovascular health
- Kidney health
- Sexual health
- Peripheral neuropathy in the feet
This list may seem daunting and it is but according to Diabetes QLD there is so much that can be done for prevention. Below is their recommendation for managing diabetes.
Always remember to:
-
Keep your blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol within target levels
-
See your GP for all your Annual Cycle of Care checks
-
Take all prescribed mediations
-
Look after your emotional wellbeing
-
Be active on most, preferably all, days every week. Follow a healthy eating plan
-
Limit your alcohol intake
-
Lose excess weight
-
Look after your feet and choose footwear that protects them.
Many people in our BioMagnetic community suffer from diabetic foot pain. Which is no surprise with about 60-70% of all people suffering from diabetes developing peripheral neuropathy.
Our Magnetic Insoles have helped many with their diabetic foot pain management. Some research has shown promising results with the use of magnets for the relief of peripheral neuropathy. (Read more.)
You can try our Magnetic Insoles risk-free with our Money Back Policy. And when we say risk-free, we mean it. Try it for 28 days and if you don't find they have helped, simply keep your receipt and organise a refund through us.
If you do not suffer from diabetes and you would like to help those who do, you can donate to Diabetes Australia.
And remember, a phone call to a friend with diabetes to offer your support is completely free.
Please note: BioMagnetic recommends you seek the advice of your doctor before trying any new therapy. Peripheral neuropathy is a serious complication of diabetes and should be treated as such.
